At times it is hard to imagine I’m 30, and at other times, I couldn’t imagine being in my twenties any longer. Even though I’ve only been 30 for 3 months, I’ve got to say that it has been one of my favorite years already, which is why I want to do a 30th Birthday Bucket List update!
Each quarter, I want to share the progress I’ve made to ensure everything gets marked off this year. The past three years of my birthday bucket lists were great, but I’ve yet to mark them all complete.
By sharing updates each quarter, I’ll have my 30th birthday bucket list close enough to consistently remind me to live with intention. My hope with this consistent reminder is that it will be easy to say I’ve accomplished all 30!
Let’s not make this introduction any longer than it has to be. Let’s get into my 30th Birthday Bucket List update, shall we?!
30th Birthday Bucket List Update: 3 Months Into It!
1 // Reset my home daily
Still a work in progress, but I’m really enjoying keeping my home tidy. I love not having to worry about friends and family coming over at a last moment’s notice.

2 // Put together my new workspace – DONE!
YES!! It is a wonderful workspace, too! I love having my own space to work that doesn’t look at the TV or involves laying in bed all day!
3 // Learn how to bake bread
Not yet. I plan to give this a try for the holiday season. The Prairie Homestead Cookbook will be my go-to for this and if I get it right, I can take some to holiday gatherings as hostess gifts.
4 // Learn how to make soap
Haven’t yet, but thanks to my friend, Cassie, I have the information to accomplish this! Also, I blame my delay in the abundance of soap we currently have. Since I buy our soap in bulk, I’ve got to get through a bit more of it to have room for more.
5 // Go paperless
I feel like this is a work in progress, but I’ve cut down on a lot of papers that come into my home, which is a great feeling!
6 // Replace beauty products with clean and low waste options
This is another work in progress. Again, I’m someone who likes to purchase things in bulk, so a few beauty products have backups that I need to use first.
But I am pledging to myself that when the time comes to replace my beauty products, I will choose clean and low waste options.
7 // Do something I enjoyed as a child – DONE!
I loved exploring in the woods as a child, and have successfully done this several time these past months. This will most likely be something I continue to do, too.
8 // Drive through a Christmas light show
Just a couple more months! I’m so excited to finally drive through a Christmas light show!
9 // Walk through a corn maze
With cooler weather finally here, I am definitely going to cross this off my list very soon!
10 // Travel somewhere new – DONE!
I traveled to Northwestern Arkansas in August, which is somewhere I’ve never been before and it was gorgeous! Hoping this isn’t the last of traveling somewhere new this year, but only time will tell.
11 // Do something that scares me – DONE[ish]!
Creating and sharing A Simple Cleaning Routine that I created for my community was pretty scary, but I want to do something outside of work that scares me and pushes my boundaries. So technically I can cross this off, but I’m not ready to just yet.
12 // Do one thing each day that is outside of my comfort zone
I’m consistently working at this, but I haven’t kept track of it. I know that I’ve grown more in these past few months by focusing on getting outside of my comfort zone, so I’m going to say I’m winning.
13 // Go one year without coloring my hair
So far, so good! My hair is still incredibly damaged, even with all the conditioning treatments I’ve done. This encourages me to stay away from coloring for at least this one year. With all the grey hairs, I’m not sure how long it will last past this one year….
14 // Get ready each day
Still working on the consistency with this one. Some days I get excited about working that I gravitate to my desk before fixing my hair and makeup, but that is real ‘work from home’ life.
15 // Don’t find or go searching for a new Netflix series to watch
I should have been more specific with saying that I won’t find a new drama type series to watch. I have watched a few documentary series and educational type shows, but no new drama series!
16 // Read one book per month
I’m killing this one! So far, I’ve read seven books and am currently reading another right now.
17 // Journal daily
Yes! I’m loving this so much! It has really shifted my thought process and has me excited for each day.
18 // Establish a sleep schedule and stick with it
This is going better, but that is thanks to my husband’s efforts to go to sleep at night. I am doing well with waking up, and that encourages me to get to bed on time.
19 // Reduce soda intake to one or less per week
Yes and no… I have some weeks where I don’t drink a soda at all, and some weeks I may drink a few. I’m confident that I can stabilize this pattern to accomplish my goal.
20 // Participate in a photography challenge
Still on the back burner. I want to challenge myself, so I think spring would be the perfect time for this. I love photographing the fall season, and I feel that it would be too easy.
21 // Try a yoga challenge
I haven’t yet, but I really need to do it. Time to make this a priority!
22 // Date my husband at least once a week
We’re doing really well with this. Working from home makes this easier than I anticipated, which is really nice!
23 // Participate in NaNoWriMo
Preparing for this now! I cannot believe it is less than a month away!
If you haven’t heard of NaNoWriMo, it is a non-profit organization that provides programs to classrooms and connects people through creative writing. November is National Novel Writing Month, and NaNoWriMo.org is a way to connect and empower each other.
My goal isn’t to write a book, but I do have a big writing project I would like to accomplish during this time. The word goal is 50,000 words, so prep time is in full swing!
24 // Have a lunch or coffee date with a friend once a month
Checking it off so far with in-person and virtual friend dates!
25 // Celebrate and befriend people who intimidate me versus compare my journey to their journey
I didn’t realize the power this would have when I added it to my list, but my gosh at the connections I’m creating through this! Building each other up is powerful and when you can do it without comparing your journey to their’s, you’re moving mountains!
26 // Attend one networking event each month
Doing good so far! Hopefully, this pattern will continue!
27 // Host a No Spend Challenge
I’m thinking we should do this in the Spring [ after all the seed and plant purchases are done 😉 ].
28 // Grow our community to 25,000+ people
We are currently right over 14,000, so we still have a long way to go, but I know we can do this!

29 // Finish Elite Blog Academy – DONE!
This course is AMAZING for anyone who is brand new to blogging or wanting to take things up a notch. It was the turning point for my blog, and I’m so thankful I invested in it.
30 // Complete my current Top 5 Priorities by the end of 2019, set new goals for my Top 5 Priorities, and accomplish them before my next birthday.
This is my biggest goal for the year with my blog, and I’m pleased to say that I have one priority left to cross off in December! && yes! I’m already planning my next Top 5 Priorities.
Dream big or go home, right?
Speaking of 5 priorities, I’ve officially marked 5 of my 30 items off my list! I’d say that is great progress for this being my first 30th Birthday Bucket List update, especially due to the fact that several are all year long items.
So I’m curious, do you have a birthday bucket list? If so, what is on it and how’s it going?
