Happy Monday! Welcome to week three in the Mental Cleanse Challenge! Kiara and I are having so much fun working through this cleanse, and I hope you are as well!
This week was a little crazy for me. If you follow me on Instagram, you know a little bit of what is happening.
But if you do not, we unexpectedly had to take one of our fur babies to the vet Wednesday after work. We took her in for one thing and came out with a completely different diagnoses than we expected.
Her journey to being well again is going to be a long one, and our hearts are so heavy from this.
For those of you who have been praying for us and sending positive thoughts our way, we greatly appreciate it! I do not know what I would do without this community! Each and every one of you are such a blessing!
Another reason this week was a little crazy is because I was almost completely out of my comfort zone this week.
As I said before, I do not exercise on a regular basis, and I do not believe I have ever had a vegan meal. However, I did give it my best shot! So let us see how this week went.
Mental Cleanse Challenge: Week Two Review
Day 1: Try a new workout you have never done //
I enjoy trying new things. While I was sick, I still was able to accomplish this day. I did some yoga stretches, and it felt so good!
Day 2: Keep all three meals “phone free”! No social medial scrolling! //
This one was pretty easy for me, because I had to eat lunch during my drive to school. Dinner was also easy to accomplish, because my husband and I spend dinner catching up with each other.
Being purposeful with focusing on being phone free really helped me see how much I used my phone throughout the day. It also helped me realize that I did not need to check social media as often as I thought.
The notifications will still be there in 30 minutes, 1 hour, or a day from now. It can wait!
Day 3: Do a yoga for beginners workout //
I did a different workout for this day, and I still enjoyed it just as much! I have heard some studies suggest that certain yoga workouts do not burn many more calories than going for a walk, but I beg to differ! Yoga is no joke!
Day 4: Make 2 of 3 meals meatless! Need inspiration? Check Pinterest! //
In the beginning, I was worried about eating a few meatless meals, but I totally conquered it! I started my day with muffins and ended my day with a delicious Sunchoke and Egg Noodle Casserole! It included kale, which I am really loving right now!
Day 5: Meditate for 5 minutes and focus on your breath //
Giving meditation a second try is something that has been on my “To-Do” list, but I finally had a reason to cross it off of it! Five minutes is a lot easier to try than 15 minutes. I found myself at peace after these 5 minutes!
Day 6: Take your workout outdoors, if only for 20 minutes! Bundle up nice and warm! //
Southern Arkansas weather is crazy this time of the year. In fact, it is so crazy that on day 5 the temperature started at 31 degrees and ended up at 72 degrees! WHAT?!
Anyways, my workout outside was very nice! I was able to start prepping my garden for the year, as well as jog a bit!
Day 7: Go vegan for a day! //
This did not pan out as well as I had hoped. I am not going to beat myself up over it, because we are in the process of cleansing our minds. That would only counter act all that I have accomplished, right?
How did you do this week?
What was your favorite challenge for the week?
Mental Cleanse Challenge: Week Three
Day 1: Clean out your inbox and sort your emails into folders. Delete all spam.
Day 2: No social media before 11 a.m. Take the time to be productive!
Day 3: Unfollow people on social media who do not inspire you.
Day 4: Organize your desktop accordingly into folders. Delete unnecessary items.
Day 5: Go through your phone and organize apps into folders. Delete apps you do not use and delete old notes, contacts you do not need, etc.
Day 6: Have a phone-free night with family or loved ones!
Day 7: Unsubscribe from email marketing you are not interested in keep up with anymore.
If you wondered why we did not do a digital cleanse with my 2017 Declutter Challenge, this is why. Kiara and I started working on this collaboration at the beginning on January, so I did not want to spend time on it in that challenge and turn around to only try it again.
I wanted us to be as productive with physical clutter as we could be.
Anyways, I am really excited for this! My computer could use a good cleansing, as well as my email accounts [personal and blog].
I am also excited to show you how my phone currently looks! I watched a YouTube video and learned something that has completely cleared the top of my home screen! Of course, you will have to come back next week to see it! 😉
I am so glad this week is over, and I am looking forward to the two remaining weeks!
I hope you are as well! Let us head over and see how Kiara did with week two, and what she is looking forward to with week three!

February 13, 2017 at 10:29 amLove your idea of unsubscribing from mailing lists … I’m definitely going to do this. I get way too much junk mail everyday.

February 17, 2017 at 8:54 amI started unsubscribing about a year ago, and the difference it makes is huge! I used to have to check my email every day just to keep the numbers under control. Now I can go days without checking it, and it only takes a few minutes.

February 14, 2017 at 8:17 amGreat job last week, Erin! I think 2-5 minutes is the perfect amount of time to meditate where you feel peaceful and relaxed afterwards! Good luck as you continue with the challenges this week!

February 17, 2017 at 8:56 amThank you, Kiara! You seem to be doing great as well! Week Three is probably the week I have looked forward to the most, because it is the most cluttered at the moment! Good luck in working through it! 🙂

February 17, 2017 at 9:51 amErin, I need this mental cleanse SO MUCH. I’m so busy I feel like my mind is going to explode. I HATE that feeling. I detest busy-ness. I have to admit, though, I have failed miserably at doing it. I really just need to schedule the time to do it. Everyday. So that’s my goal. Yep. I just said it. Out loud. On the internet. No going back now, right?

February 17, 2017 at 10:02 amI know exactly how you feel, Laurisa! I was nervous about having enough time as well, but each of these take just a little bit of time. I find that I feel much better after a little self-care; and it really improves my day. Also, saying it on the internet means you must follow through with it. 😉
